FINAL EXAMS

Semester examinations are required. Only under extenuating circumstances can final exams be taken at times other than the scheduled exam date. Requests to take a final exam at times other than the scheduled time must be filed in writing for administrative approval.

PRAIRIE STATE ACHIEVEMENT EXAM PERFORMANCE INCENTIVE

Any student who demonstrates a level of performance that "meets or exceeds" state standards in any content area (Mathematics, Science, and Reading) as measured by the Prairie State Achievement Exam taken in their junior year, will be given the option of not taking their senior final examination in the content area in which they have met or exceeded standards. This applies to both first and second semesters of final examination. Teachers will compute semester grades with each six-week grading period worth 1/3 of the semester grade since no percentage will be given to a final exam.

G.P.A.

All courses will be counted toward a student’s grade point average except “Pass/Fail.”

Grading System

  1. Grade Reports - Student grade reports are issued at the end of each six week period. The semester grade is the only grade recorded on students’ permanent record. Semester grades are to be based upon averaging 2/7 for each grading period and 1/7 for the final examination. Final examinations, for senior students, may be waived based on PSAE performance. See Prairie State Achievement Exam Performance Incentive handbook information for clarification.
